蘋果(Malus pumila)是薔薇科蘋果亞科蘋果屬植物，其樹為落葉喬木，果實富含礦物質和維生素，是人們最常食用的水果之一。現代漢語所說的「蘋果」一詞源於梵語，為古印度佛經中所說的一種水果，最早被稱為「頻婆」，後被漢語借用，並有「平波」、「蘋婆」等寫法。

An apple is a sweet, edible fruit produced by an apple tree. Apple trees are cultivated worldwide. The tree originated in Central Asia, where its wild ancestor, Malus sieversii, is still found today. Apples have been grown for thousands of years in Asia and Europe and were brought to North America by European colonists. Different cultivars are bred for various tastes and use, including cooking, eating raw and cider production.
