檸檬（Citrus limon, 英文簡稱: Lemon），是被認為原產亞洲的常綠小喬木，其果實為黃色橢圓狀。檸檬的主要產地為印度、墨西哥、阿根廷、中國與巴西，這些國家的總產量占全世界產量的一半以上。萊姆與檸檬兩者味道非常接近，同一屬，不同種。是兩個不同的柑橘種類，果實的用途與植株生長特性相近，但萊姆的果無籽、皮薄而較光滑，果形短橢圓，果肉淡綠色，顆粒較小。果實主要為榨汁用，有時也用做烹飪調料，但基本不用作鮮食。檸檬提煉出的精油可做為殺菌、收斂劑。增加身體對抗感染的抵抗力。

The juice of the lemon is about 5% to 6% citric acid, with a pH of around 2.2, giving it a sour taste. The distinctive sour taste of lemon juice makes it a key ingredient in drinks and foods such as lemonade and lemon meringue pie.
